Dangerous Drug Neurontin Lawyer
Serving all of Pennsylvania
Neurontin was approved for sale by the FDA in the 1990s as an anti-seizure medication for epileptics. Later it was approved for the treatment of certain types of nerve pain. Its manufacturer, Pfizer, Inc., who acquired Parke-Davis the original Neurontin manufacturer, illegally marketed Neurontin for years for non-FDA approved uses. Despite FDA warnings to Pfizer to stop marketing the drug for non-approved uses, the off-label promotion continued for conditions such as migraines, back pain, anxiety, bipolar disorder, drug and alcohol withdrawal, attention deficit disorder, and other non-approved conditions. As a result many patients suffered serious side effects including: viral infections, convulsions, memory loss, vomiting, diarrhea, mania, paranoia, sexual side effects, and, most disturbing, suicide. Less serious side effects include sleepiness, dizziness, headache, alcohol intolerance and nausea. While the drug became a blockbuster, in May 2004 Pfizer plead guilty to marketing the drug for unapproved illnesses.
If you or a loved one has suffered side effects from taking Neurontin, you should immediately consult your physician and contact our Pennsylvania Neurontin lawyers today for a free consultation. You may be entitled to compensation for lost wages, medical bills, pain and suffering, etc.
