Dangerous Drug Serevent Lawyer
Serving all of Pennsylvania
Since it was approved by the FDA in 1994, Serevent has been widely prescribed by physicians for the treatment of asthma. Serevent is an aerosol spray that is used twice daily to open bronchial airways, enabling asthmatics to breathe more easily. GlaxoSmithKline, the drug's manufacturer, insists that Serevent is safe. However, studies have shown that Serevent can trigger fatal attacks and deaths. In fact, a safety monitoring board shut down a 1996 study of the drug conducted by GlaxoSmithKline after 36 patients died from asthma attacks or had life threatening attacks that were believed to be side effects of Serevent.
The FDA has ordered GlaxoSmithKline to include a black box warning on both Serevent's packaging and advertisements that discloses the significant risk of death associated with the drug. African Americans who use Serevent are at a disparately increased risk of lethal side effects in comparison to other races, although researchers are uncertain as to why. In addition, the risk of severe Serevent side effects is much higher for those patients who do not use a companion drug to control inflammation.
If you or a loved one has suffered side effects from taking Serevent, you should immediately consult your physician and contact our Pennsylvania Serevent attorneys today for a free consultation. You may be entitled to compensation for lost wages, medical bills, pain and suffering, etc.
