Vioxx
On September 30, 2004, Merck & Company announced they would withdraw Vioxx, their popular arthritis pain relief drug. This action came following a recent clinical trial of 2,600 patients. The study showed that those using Vioxx for 18 months or more were at twice the risk for heart attack and stroke.
