FRACKVILLE, Pa. (Nov. 4, 2015) – Michael J. O’Connor & Associates is proud to announce that attorney Debra A. Matherne has been named chair of the Workers' Compensation and Workplace Injury Section for the American Association for Justice. Matherne is a certified Workers’ Compensation specialist who previously has been honored with an AV Preeminent Rating from Martindale-Hubbell(R) Peer Review Ratings(TM).
The goal of the Workers’ Compensation and Workplace Injury Section is to ensure all members are informed of legal solutions that will protect a client within their workplace, as well as secure legal compensation to those who were injured in the scope of their employment. This section acknowledges that workers’ compensation can come from numerous types of claims, and as a veteran lawyer of the injured workers’ field, Matherne is honored to serve as chair. Her duties as chair include coordinating and supervising all of the section’s activity, and she functions as the chief executive officer of the section as well as an Executive Committee member.
Matherne, a Villanova University School of Law graduate, is a member of several prominent professional associations, including the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the SCBA Women’s Law Caucus. She has spoken at numerous events such as the AAJ Annual Convention and the WC Seminar in Philadelphia, where she has shared her vast knowledge and expertise about workers’ compensation law. Her acceptance and work as chair of the Workers’ Compensation and Workplace Injury Section is a prestigious position that will allow her to further utilize her expertise in the field. She and her husband, Chris, now reside in Camp Hill and are parents to their three children, Max, Kyle and Zoe.
